Figure 1 Publishing is delighted to welcome Aleisha Smith as our new Publishing Coordinator. Aleisha will assist in every area of the publishing process, including drafting publishing proposals; drafting and managing author contracts; creating content for Figure 1 Publishing’s digital platforms and publisher catalogues, as well as organizing photography and promotional events.

“We are excited that Aleisha is joining our team,” says Chris Labonté, publisher and president of Figure 1. “She is passionate about the books we publish, is whip-smart, and damned organized. We have big plans for the future, and she will play an important role in our continued growth.”

Before delving into the world of publishing, Aleisha received an honours degree in history with a focus on Indigenous history and culture, and worked in libraries and bookstores. She enjoys photography, calligraphy, trying to keep plants alive, and cozying up with a book and cup of tea.

“I am excited to be a part of the team and be among creators and innovators at the top of their fields,” says Aleisha. “I hope to help foster relationships, create engaging experiences, and continue in the quality of work that Figure 1 is known for.”
