Michelle Meade Takes Over Food & Lifestyle Program at Figure 1 Publishing
Figure 1 Publishing has promoted Michelle Meade to the role of Editorial Director, Food + Lifestyle. Meade takes over the Canadian publisher’s celebrated cookbook program and will build out its lifestyle program, with a focus on design, fashion, and decorating.
“It’s incredibly rewarding to publish books with leading chefs and designers and share their works with a large audience,” says Meade. “I look forward to developing the food and lifestyle list in a way which continues to firmly place Figure 1 as one of North America’s premier publishers of high-quality illustrated books.”
Originally from Vancouver, Meade has spent the last fifteen years working for publishing houses in New York and London. At Phaidon, she developed and edited a variety of critically acclaimed books, including the Italian classic The Silver Spoon, the New York Times bestselling Mexico: The Cookbook by Margarita Carrillo Arronte, The Cookbook Book by Florian Bohm and Annahita Kamali, and The Larousse Book of Bread by Éric Kayser.
“We are delighted to have someone of Michelle’s calibre and international experience lead our food and lifestyle program,” says Chris Labonté, publisher and president of Figure 1. “She brings incredible energy and creativity to the role and I cannot wait to see where she takes the program.”
Meade is the editor behind several of Figure 1’s high profile titles, including recent new releases: Brian Gluckstein: The Art of Home by Brian Gluckstein; Seattle Cooks by Julien Perry; and Atelier: The Cookbook, the first book by Marc Lepine, the only two-time winner of the Gold Medal Plate at the Canadian Culinary Championships.
