Drink Recipe: Araxi’s Truth & Lies
How can you possibly go wrong with a drink called truth & lies especially leading up to the holiday season? The following drink recipe is taken from Chef James Walt’s new cookbook, Araxi: Roots to Shoots – Farm Fresh Recipes – in stores now!
Truth & Lies
Makes 6
- Lavender-infused simple syrup
- 1 cup Simple Syrup
- 1/2 cup dried lavender
- Cocktail
- 12 oz fresh grapefruit juice
- 10 oz vodka
- 4 oz Cointreau
- 3 oz fresh lime juice
- 3 oz lavender-infused simple syrup (recipe below)
- Ice cubes to chill
- 6 oz club soda (optional)
- 6 slices, strips or pieces grapefruit zest, for garnish
Lavender-infused simple syrup: Bring the simple syrup to a boil on high heat, add the lavender and continue boiling for 1 minute. Remove from the heat and allow to cool. Use the syrup once cooled, or ideally, once steeped overnight (no need to strain the lavender). This will keep refrigerated in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks.
Cocktail: Have ready 6 coupe glasses. In a pitcher, combine the grapefruit juice, vodka, Cointreau, lime juice and simple syrup over the ice and stir until well chilled. Pour in the club soda (if using). Strain the mixture into individual coupe glasses without ice. Garnish with a twist of grapefruit zest.
