Figure 1 Publishing Wins Alcuin Awards
We are delighted to announce that Figure 1 Publishing recently won several awards at the 2020 & 2021 Alcuin Awards for Excellence in Book Design. We took first, second, third, and the honourable mention prize in the reference category for The Double Happiness Cookbook by Trevor Lui (first, design by Naomi MacDougall), Washington Wine + Food by Julien Perry (second, design by Jessica Sullivan), Escapology: Modern Cabins, Cottages and Retreats by Colin McAllister & Justin Ryan (third, design by Jessica Sullivan) and Island Eats by Dawn Postnikoff & Joanne Sasvari (honourable mention, design by Naomi MacDougall). We were awarded third place in the pictorial category for Out North: An Archive of Queer Activism and Kinship in Canada by Craig Jennex & Nisha Eswaran (design by Jessica Sullivan) and honourable mention for Canadian Architecture by Leslie Jen (design by Naomi MacDougall).
The Alcuin Society promotes the appreciation of beautifully produced books, connecting like-minded individuals and promoting the finest in Canadian book design. This win is particularly significant for Figure 1 since it is our goal to consistently produce the most stunning, innovative art books in North America.
