FIRST PLACE, ILLUSTRATED PROSE
Taizo Yamamoto: Carts, Hedges, Lions
Designed by Jessica Sullivan, Taizo Yamamoto has been awarded the first place prize in the Illustrated Prose category.
In his first book, Yamamoto’s exquisitely detailed drawings offer a “field guide” to ubiquitous but overlooked elements of Vancouver’s urban landscape.
THIRD PLACE, REFERENCE
San Diego Cooks: Recipes from the Region’s Favorite Eateries, Bakeries, and Bars
Also designed by Jessica Sullivan, San Diego Cooks placed third in the Reference category.
It is a vibrant collection of 70 recipes from San Diego’s top restaurants and chefs that celebrates America’s Finest City’s diverse culinary scene.
HONOURABLE MENTION, PICTORIAL
Canadian Photographs: Geoffrey James
Designed by Naomi MacDougall, Canadian Photographs received an honourable mention in the Pictorial category.
This photography book is a subversive look at the liminal locations and transitional moments that make up the Canadian unconscious and the Not-So-True North.
Founded in Vancouver in 1965, the Alcuin Society, is a Canadian non-profit whose members are interested in the book arts and whose primary mission is promoting the finest in Canadian book design. The winning books are exhibited both nationally and internationally, and nominated for the Best Book Design from all over the World competition in Leipzig, Germany.
